A Typical Day in the Jewish Community Preschool of the Hudson Valley consists of the following:

Daily Intentions is our morning meeting. We will greet each other with our ‘Shalom Song’, sing modeh ani (our morning gratitude song), and go over our schedule for the day. This is a time for children to share what is on their mind, share about themselves and their interests, and set their learning intentions for the day.

Classroom Play is the core part of our day. The JCP classroom will be set up for children to explore all areas of learning; math, science, construction, literacy, art and sensory.  Play will be choice-driven, hands-on and exploratory – when children are put in charge of their learning it makes the experience meaningful and authentic. Teachers will be there to engage children in meaningful conversation, observe and document learning.

Enrichment Specials are an important part of our curriculum. In addition to learning through classroom play, children will be able to participate in a variety of enrichment specials. Many of these will focus on hands-on experiences – for it is by doing that children learn! Enrichment Specials will include dance, music, gymnastics, ceramics, cooking, nature play, weaving and yoga.

Shabbat is a core value of our curriculum. Every Friday a member of our community will come in to help us celebrate Shabbat.
