The Jewish Community Preschool takes influence from current best practices, theories and the most current research in early-childhood education to create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and care for young children. Our approach is fundamentally play-based and experiential, but takes inspiration from many alternative holistic approaches to education including the Reggio Emilia, Montessori and Waldorf approaches. We are dedicated to teaching and nurturing the whole child – head, heart and hands.

The JCP offers a small, mixed-age group that fosters a family-like setting of learners who care for one another. Varying levels of ability blend easily in a multi-age setting, so no child feels left behind and everyone learns at their own pace. We recognize and celebrate each child as an individual with their own set of interests and motivations to learn. Our classroom and curriculum is designed to offer children countless opportunities for safe, engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Our daily interactions will be imbued with the core Jewish values of kindness and fairness towards one another, of helping each other, and of expressing gratitude. We will engage children with Jewish themes of taking care of our world and all living things, and we will learn about cycles of time and the seasons with special stories, songs, crafts and foods as we celebrate Jewish holidays and traditions throughout the year.
